I’m not saying it’s gone. It was a manual save and I used it to start New Game +, can I somehow roll back this save for a regular game?

Well, if you did more than one save, then you can try to restore the previous version.
Right-click on the save folder, the tab is the previous version, see there should be several options for different dates.
