Game difficulty (Need for Speed: No Limits)

I noticed one notable feature:

in modes such as "Underground", "Mono Series":
- I drive a VW Golf GTI 452RP, the AI ​​enemy drives a VW Golf GTI 420RP: I quickly become a leader and go far ahead.

in the "Tournament" mode:
- I am driving a VW Golf GTI 452RP, the AI ​​enemy is driving a VW Golf GTI 350RP: I hardly become a leader and with some difficulties I keep the lead.

At the same time, I can go out of my way to win and use all available means (dangerous driving, drifting) to replenish nitro, because this is probably the only serious advantage in the game. AI always drives smoothly, without drifting, and either practically does not lag behind, or overtakes.

Am I doing something wrong? Are there any secrets? Anyone have any advice?
