Problem with excellent legendary wolf gloves (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt)

I started collecting a wolf, there are two options (legendary and regular), for excellent legendary gloves you need improved GRIFFON gloves. I found the griffin by chance, but unlike the wolf, the griffin has one variant and it is legendary. I thought it would be suitable for a wolf, but no, just ordinary gloves are needed. There are any considerations on this matter.
Ps I have already collected almost everything legendary and I don’t want to spoil the whole set because of the gloves alone.
