“Plaster gradually started to fall from the corner of the barracks, the guys drew attention to this and gave a command. Everyone got up and began to run out of the barracks, and its collapse began. Then the guys and I acted quickly - part of the group of people was taken to the window, some of the people jumped down from the second floor, that is, it was not high, "Kolmakov told the Russia 24 TV channel (quoted by RIA Novosti).
He also added that after the collapse of the barracks, he helped several soldiers escape.
The father of one of the victims of the collapse, Valery Lebedev, talked to his son after the incident. He told KP that, according to his son, the servicemen went to bed and heard a loud click. According to Lebedev's father, his son was crushed on the 2nd floor of the barracks, he spent 5 hours under the rubble. The soldier's father added that his son took the oath of office on the eve of the collapse of the barracks.
Part of the barracks collapsed the night before. As a result, 23 people died, 19 people were removed from the rubble and taken to medical institutions. On the fact of the collapse, a criminal case was opened on negligence and abuse of office. As RBC previously wrote, the repair of the barracks in 2013 was carried out with delays.
