I found a code where fire dragons are created at the beginning of the game for kinematics before the battle. Necron squads are also created there when Taldira tells her officer the ancient history of this area.
So most likely you had a script glitch, maybe due to an early interruption, when not all units involved in the kinematics correctly retired before the start of the battle. Therefore, by the way, the dragons did not pay attention to your troops.
