Saves not loading (Sid Meier's Civilization 5)

If saved games are not loaded (when loading a save, the game freezes or crashes into the system)

99% of this problem is due to the presence of non-English characters in the paths to Civ5 saves (Russian username of the system, Russian name of the My Documents folder). For 99%, the solution will be to create a user with a name in English or, which is better in my opinion, to transfer (not just rename!) the “My Documents” folder:

In Explorer, we find the “Documents” library (we do not touch it) - under it is “My Documents” - right-click on them - Properties - Location tab - set the path only with English characters (for example C: / Documents) - click "Move" and wait while the system transfers the files.

There is a better option - update to version 1.0.1.705 (or later), which fixed this bug with saves.

You have some problem with MS Visual C++. Perhaps you need to reinstall.

What version of the game do you have?
Have you tried running the game through DirectX 9?
