Pause doesn't work well (Mortal Kombat X)

All hayushki. Straight to the point:
During combat, the pause only works if you hold "Esc" for a couple of seconds (maybe milliseconds, I didn't notice). The joystick has the same problem, therefore, it's in the game. I don't remember what happened after that. At first, with a friend, they thought that there was no pause at all, but then, purely by chance, I discovered how to call it after all. Those seconds are fatal. And for me, at the beginning of the battle, I definitely need to switch the layout every time (I have had such a problem since the days of MK9). Help what you can.
