Skyrim quests are too linear and casual, so was the need to use guides for them. The only quest which could give rise to difficulties, this investigation in Windhelm. But there are difficulties associated, for the most part, with the technical implementation, not the player's choice.
Yes, and the same choice does not change anything global. I don't think the guards will be a couple of new phrases.
