What is the memory bus width?

What is the memory bus width? And what is the best option for games?

A bus is a channel that connects the memory and graphics processor of a video card. Multiply the memory frequency by the bus = bandwidth (ps) (example 6000 mg memory frequency with a 256-bit bus (32 bytes) = 192 GB / s). The higher the PS, the more productive the video card is with the use of different filtering and anti-aliasing. Top video cards have a large bus, since wiring on the board turns out to be expensive.

Is ColorWave
384 bit enough for gaming? (The Witcher 3 for example?)

Don't bother with the bus especially (for the same gtx 980 with a 256-bit bus and 7000 mg, special compression is used. The throughput increases to 300 GB / s). Better write me the name of the video card.

fedul1234 It's enough
for high settings.

A for ultra

the bus itself is not a very good indicator of performance
in a number of budget cards, it is just 128-192, which, coupled with slow memory, does not have a very good effect on performance. but by virtue of the chip itself, this, as a rule, does not matter much.
it is better to look at rop and texture units as well as the core frequency and the number of shader processors,
and even better at real tests of actual performance in games and benchmarks.
for maximum settings of pedmak 3 nada something like radeon 290x or pair 280 (provided that crossfire works there)

MunchkiN 616 Does the
use of video memory somehow depend on the bus width? Let's say you take exactly the same top-end cards, but with different bus widths ((256/384) or (384/512)). At the same time, so that there is memory for slaughter

[Denis Alexandrovich]
depends on the total throughput, as described above.
you are supposed to use ultra textures, uber samlung and high resolution so the bus width will play a role. and in fact, trying to find the bandwidth limit - there will always be a chip limit.
things can be different with a multi-GPU configuration - since texture shader and other performance increases and memory performance does not directly add up.

At ultra, about 30 fps will be stable on r9 280x in the witcher, but drawdowns are possible.

On ultra without nvidia herworks it will be up to 45 fps, but with drawdowns to 30.
