The accidents from the first part of flatout are probably remembered by everyone. The Bugbear project was a real revelation in 2004 with great physics, superb damage and crazy off-road racing. How crazy the road mayhem will be in the sequel, you could already find out from our preview in the 12th anniversary issue. There we also announced that the release is scheduled for the first kartal of 2006. However, it turned out that we would have to wait a little longer.
Judging by the screenshots and previews, external tuning will be quite robust. Here, the nitro current is not particularly impressive, we have already seen the flame from the exhaust somewhere :)
Buka will publish the racing arcade Flatout 2 in Russia.
The main features of the game: new tracks, new landscapes, a huge fleet of various cars with an incredible number of upgrades. Improved physics model and even more objects on the track. Destroying objects on the track and hitting opponents will also bring practical benefits - they will allow the player to earn money and get the most important advantage - nitro.
Also, now crashes are fraught with damage incompatible with life and the race may end prematurely. True, opponents can also leave the race ahead of time, and this can be used. In addition to racing in single player mode and multiplayer that supports races of up to 8 players, we are waiting for new tricks involving the unfortunate driver, for example, high jumps, darts, volleyball , football, basketball, curling, etc.
The release of the game is scheduled for the II quarter of 2006. (20.07.2006)
April 24, 2006 - Although we were able to get our hands on Bugbear's FlatOut 2 about a month ago, the game was in such an early stage of development that some of our favorite stunt competitions (or the Ragdoll Olympics) were simply in an unplayable state . At Vivendi's pre-E3 conference this week, a whole dozen crazy races were fully playable and ready for our unfortunate driver's chaotic throws.
The first mini-game we tried was ski jumping. Kind of like the high jump from the first game, with a couple of differences: here the goal is to throw the poor fellow as far as possible, and on things that can cause real harm to health, such as a pair of cross-country skis . You start at the top of a giant descent, slide down to an iron barrier (which will prevent your car from flying too far), picking up tremendous speed along the way, and then enjoy the beautiful somersaults of the ragdoll carcass. Simple, but so much fun!
Next, we tried Royal Flush, which is such a card game, as they say. The competition is somewhat similar to the darts from the first part (which, by the way, also returned), here you have to drive along the high-speed section and shoot your carrier into a huge amount of playing cards. For each card you are given a certain number of points, for example for the king - 13. If you take consecutive cards or cards of the same suit, you will receive bonus points, and earning a Royal Flush will give you the maximum possible points. The trick is that before each throw, the cards are randomly shuffled, so you will know where which card is immediately before the throw. It's good that you can slightly affect the flight of the human body, but this will not save you from the possibility of a bad throw.
The next three games we tasted were based on popular sports. Baseball is a pretty fun game where you start near the pitcher's pitch and move all the way to the home court and then launch yourself into a huge bat. The bat plays the role of a pinball cue ball, and the more accurately you hit it, the farther you will be launched into a massive baseball field. This field is filled with giant baseball gloves, landing on which will not earn you a single point. We did it once, and then by accident, so it's pointless to say that baseball is a rather tricky mini-game. But damn it's funny!
Football looks much simpler, but like baseball, it also has its own tricks. From the starting position, you see a huge football field, in the distance the goal, along which the goalkeeper moves quite quickly. In front of the gate there are also a number of wooden football players that play the role of a restrictive wall, your little man must not only overcome them, but also fly past the goalkeeper in order to get victory points. Nines in the gate give the most points, but the flight path is quite mundane and the speed is high, so getting there is very difficult.
Lastly, we tried American football, perhaps the most limitless of all the items on the program. Another football field stretches out in front of you, with 30-foot wooden silhouettes of players gliding back and forth and at the end of the field a goal that is suspended above the ground. Your points here depend on the time, in fact, the faster your iron sob can spit out a clot of protein into the goal, the better. In doing so, you need to get as far into the field as fast as possible, which is not easy, as you will have to take down the wooden players, and this will slow you down. If you shoot the pilot too early, then he simply will not reach the gate. It is very interesting, and, like any competition, it is not easy enough.
Well, that's all for today. The Ragdoll Olympics has improved since the first FlatOut, not only in quantity but also in quality. FlatOut 2 is slated for release this June for PC, Xbox and PS2, so stay tuned for more previews.

I didn’t master the first part because of the monotony, I hope 2 will be more diverse
Empire Interactive has announced the exact release date for the cross-platform car simulator FlatOut 2. Instead of the previously announced July, the "release date" column now shows a closer number - May 24 of this year. The sequel is being developed by the same Bugbear studio from Helsinki on an improved engine with the uncomplicated name of the Bugbear racing game engine.
Taking all the best elements from the first part of the game and improving them, the developers have turned FlatOut 2 into the most destructive car racing in the world. Race tracks are filled with thousands of interactive zones, dynamic objects, as well as risky but effective alternative routes.
You will have to show aggression against seven computer opponents, each of which has its own role parameters and driving style. Not all race participants will reach the finish line - some will be taken off the track in a hearse. Damage to objects on the track and cars is displayed with an unprecedented level of realism thanks to the world's most spectacular physics model.
