An error has been detected. (Neverwinter Nights)
The situation is this. I started the game. Went to the graphics settings menu. I changed the settings, clicked "apply". After that, an error occurred with a suggestion to send a report to Microsoft.Now such an error crashes immediately when starting the game (via Launcher or main). Changing the settings (in the configuration menu), reinstalling the client, installing a different assembly does not change the situation.
About a year ago there was a similar problem. I solved it, but I don’t remember how. Who faced this - help!
psWin-XP. 2 cores.Video - Radeon ATI 512mb

Version 1.69 (also tried to install 1.7 community patch).
Yesterday I found out that the graphic settings had nothing to do with it. I installed the game. In the installer window, at the end of the installation, there was a "play" button. I clicked on it, the game started. I didn’t touch the settings. I went through the introduction, saved it, went to the main menu, pressed the "exit" button, the screen went dark and the error crashed again. no effect).
The error is standard for Windows.

Now this error crashes at startup (Through the launcher and directly).
The psDM client won't start either.

And what about the details of the error? When the error window pops up, click view the data contained in the report, maybe there is some information there?

The problem is that the assemblies installed earlier worked .. before ..
I tried it. After deleting the NWN folder from the registry through the control panel
(according address HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - SOFTWARE - BioWare) disappeared (before the removal it was).
The result is similar.
I also tried pssafe mod.
A long time ago, I also had this error. I don’t remember how I decided, put yourself a seven)

The search only shows that this type of error is not a correct memory access or a windows 7 error due to an incorrect update, but since you have XP, I don’t consider this option at all. What's up with the audio settings in the game? I remember that the wrong audio settings, for some reason, caused me terrible brakes, which on other machines can interfere with the launch of the game as a whole.
The funny thing is that looking at the screenshots of this error, it seems familiar to me, but I can’t remember how I decided either. Looks like a mistake more or less common, but the search, as in most cases, did not give clear results.
If you changed the video settings and after that there was a problem, then you should look for it there. Most likely, I enabled effects in the settings that Radeon video cards do not correctly support. On NVidia cards, starting from the GeForce 3 Ti 200, there were no problems with video at all in this game, since 2002 I've been playing it.

in the NWN folder
rename nwmain.exe to somethingelse.exe
and use it to start the game.
If the characters are invisible, in the Video Game Options,
uncheck "Show environmental effects on characters".
In addition, in nwn.ini changes
SafeMovie = 0
SafeMovie = 1
to disable the intro movie via nwn.ini (Disable Intro Movies=1)
Water Shine also needs to be disabled
