at the end, a coup began in Russia and the president was killed, then the bombing of America began, while showing characters absorbed by a nuclear explosion.

It seems to me that this is one of the possible endings, who knows, maybe lovers of Easter eggs will find the right ending and then we will be able to understand the whole picture as a whole. In terms of the plot, the game is very confusing and it is not so easy to understand it the first time, and even more so to find all the riddles as it was in the first part. It remains only to wait for the fans to collect all the fantasy of the developers together and be able to find out what is really happening.

What exactly did you understand in the whole plot of the hotline?

Stupid ending of the game. All the same, nothing is clear.

At the end, a nuclear war begins, and they also hint at a sequel. I hope the events of the third part will unfold in the post-apocalypse, and the game will be made in the style of Mad Max.

Someone named Mikhail Panishchev from the Hotline Miami group on Vk explained the plot of the game in sufficient detail:
The cold war with Russia has turned into a hot one, hostilities are underway in Hawaii, the states are losing on all fronts. The US government is using every means possible to not lose the war and distributes experimental combat drugs to a squad of soldiers that turn you into a super soldier. In this detachment were Kurtka, Fat Man, Bespectacled Man and "Rimbaud", commanded by the Colonel. The drug works successfully, the government gives orders to the point of the impossible - to capture more and more inaccessible and protected enemy bases. Orders are given in encrypted form, understandable only to their own. The soldiers are doing well. The colonel is promoted. But the situation for the states is already too deplorable and it is already too late and unprofitable to win back the territory. Therefore, there is no need for a detachment and they are promised to be sent home after the last mission, in which the effect of the drug would be tested to the maximum. During this mission, Rimbaud dies and Kurtka is seriously wounded, at the base the Russian general kills his soldiers and launches a self-destruction program. The bespectacled man pulls out the Jacket, the fat man escapes alone. No one is in a hurry to evacuate the soldiers, and the nervous Bespectacled Man, who hates fighting and killing people, stops encrypted and requests evacuation in plain text. The squad is sent home. ceases to be encrypted and requests evacuation in plain text. The squad is sent home. ceases to be encrypted and requests evacuation in plain text. The squad is sent home.
The US is losing the war. As a result of the signing of the peace treaty, the Russians now freely come to live in America, receive all sorts of privileges, can do whatever they want, and no one will do anything to them. And, accordingly, they are strangling the country and organizing armed mayhem at every turn. The government does not like this and it turns to the colonel who showed himself best in the war. He takes on a secret mission to clean up especially large Russian headquarters and must furnish it as an attack by local militias. For the task, he takes trusted people from the squad - the Jacket and the Fat Man. The colonel does not take the bespectacled man because, in his own words, he will never fight and shoot at people for anything and is careless about encryption. Both heroes receive messages on the answering machine, encrypted in a familiar way, and an animal mask - so that they understand that a general is getting in touch, who at one time, under the same military drug, was remembered by the soldiers for having scalped a panther in a battle rage and put it on himself. The jacket does not rock the boat and unquestioningly follows orders. A fat patriot, dissatisfied with the state of his country, lights up with nationalistic joy, obeys the first order and goes to get a tattoo on the occasion of a "special day". Then, unable to contain his happiness, out of intention to help, he tries to get to his superiors and chats about calls on every corner. Naturally, he is accepted by an agent (undercover working in the seemingly harmless 50 Blessings sect) and eliminated. The jacket does not rock the boat and unquestioningly follows orders. Meanwhile, the government patriotic sect "50 Blessings" is popular with many armchair nationalists, many of whom are physically strong and prone to violence/easily blackmailed. Calls are now coming to the biker, who kills Russians for fun, but at one fine moment wants to figure out what is happening and goes to the telephone company to "punch the numbers." This puts the operation's secrecy at risk, and Jacket is sent to kill the biker. Both somehow survive the fight with some head injuries.
Jacket, who recently broke up with a girl and suffers from loneliness, during one of the tasks picks up a drug addict prostitute right on the battlefield and brings her home. She lives with Kurtka, gradually approaches him and becomes his girlfriend, whom he trusts. The government does not like this, as it jeopardizes the secrecy of the plan, and it urgently recruits the well-known bandit-sectarian Rat, who at one time organized the bloodiest massacre of competitive criminal groups. Through blackmail, Rat, worried about the health and safety of his mother, is forced to kill Jacket's girlfriend and possibly himself. Hero suffers a second injury
heads and goes to the hospital, where the cops then come, finding the girl's corpse. The jacket escapes, finds the detained Rat in the police station, having killed all the cops, finds out the address of the last order, goes to the place and kills the main boss of the Russian mafia. Then, in order to avoid problems for his best friend, with whom they killed hundreds of people under the influence of military drugs, he throws out a photo of them together for a long time in his pocket and lights up.
The biker calculates the location of the callers, arrives at the hideout of the cleaners (small agents that destroy bodies and make calls), finds out that they are just the tip of the iceberg and are somehow connected with politics, after which he loses interest and leaves. Suddenly realizing that after the murders of agents the US authorities will not leave the matter like that, he gets scared and leaves to live in the desert, and then goes crazy and drinks himself.
The jacket is arrested at the crime scene. A high-profile trial is planned, on which relations between the two countries depend. Many see him as a national hero who cleanses the country, including the Fans. Kurtka confuses the investigation by lying that he was blackmailed by other Russian bandits, which delays the investigation. The business of the murdered Russian boss passes to his son.
Fans who admire Kurtka's murders and do not understand their meaning imitate him and organize mass murders of petty American gopniks for the sake of blood and glory. During one of their purges, they stumble upon a Russian bandit recovering from the action of a military drug and learn the address of their main headquarters.
A local police detective, known for his cruelty to criminals, indulges in a similar morbid self-expression and craves fame and violence, dreaming of himself as the star-actor of a bloody horror movie that shreds everyone. He kills civilians, leaving notes, trying to become famous as a "butcher from Miami" and invites a friend to write a book about the butcher, but these murders are of no interest to anyone against the backdrop of the ongoing Russian genocide.
At some point, the Fans come to the Russian headquarters and massacre there. Overdosed on the battle drug, the boss, in turn, shreds the Fans, leaving only the Tiger, and breaks off the roof. The detective finishes off the Tiger. Then the detective's girlfriend denounces him to the police, he, who always dreamed of massacre in the police station, arranges a fight and dies in it.
To discuss the consequences of the Russian genocide, the Russian president comes to the States and the general's troops kill him and their own president during the meeting. The Russians respond with a nuclear strike on Miami. All the heroes, except for the Bespectacled Man, are reproached and frightened by the Rooster, who sympathizes only with him, the only peace-loving character.
The writer was introduced only to collect the plot together, so it makes no sense to write about him.
The question of who the Rooster is is up to you.

The plot is exhausted, there is nowhere for the gameplay to grow higher. What will the 3rd part be based on? On the next repetition of the main theme of the 1st and 2nd games?

Misha played the first part.
The biker in that room filled up the jacket (or "Jacket"), and slammed it with his boot so deliciously, as a result of which all the events before Trauma were hallucinations, which most likely occurred due to the fact that someone in his ward read all sorts of news.

But before Kurtka wakes up, the cop says to the doctors, "It's a pity you couldn't save the girl." What do you say to that?

I understand it, according to the canon, in the fight between Jacket and Biker in the Phonehom office, Jacket defeated, but Biker, despite the fact that Jacket had badly crushed him, survived, drank himself and went to live in the desert. The biker can be found in the Bar of Fallen Heroes in the second part:

Well, let's go from afar. Everyone knows that when a person is in a coma, then relatives talk to them, tell all sorts of news, because they say that the poor fellow hears everything and this should seem to help. As a last resort, for stupid people, I advise you to look at the Interns - this topic was well disclosed there.
So, what am I talking about, after the battle in the telephone company, the Jacket was in a coma all these few weeks (which is unobtrusively hinted at in between missions). All subsequent events before Trauma - either the guard read the news bulletins, or the doctors discussed among themselves - and that's not the point. The bottom line is that in the latest news, his woman still converts to Islam. This was his event for getting out of a coma. And then the bloody massacre of the police and the Russians.

No no no no no no no no
Just the same, the canon is told from the side of the biker, who at the end of the first part on this very bike and dumped into the sunset. Someone already swept it away in the desert, or simply could not stand what they had done.

However, it is the Rat who shoots Jacket and kills his partner. The biker has nothing to do with it. And it is with the Rat that the action in the police station is connected.

Perhaps during the conversation, the address of the Jacket was uttered, so he made an association with himself. Here everything already rests on the perception of what is happening.

What then does Richter want to apologize to Richard for, thinking it's Jacket?

In any case, the plot allows for several interpretations. The true meaning is known only to developers.

M
Maklline66 04.05.22

JackFontaine
Well, he killed the girl, that's the reason for the apologies.

J

And after killing the girl, he shoots Jacket, right? At 4:15

M

I already wrote. Richter killed the girl, yes. For this, in fact, he is in prison. But he did not kill Jacket, since he was in a coma at that time. Well, in the ward, having heard the conversation between the doctor, he apparently projected himself at that moment. Check out the latest footage in your video. there were only traces of the girl.

In any case, both Kurtka and Biker survived after the fight, this is known in the second part of the game.
