Whipless (FIST: Forged In Shadow Torch)

I'm in the Snowy Mountains now and there are a lot of flying blue objects that you have to cling to with a whip. And I discovered that I don’t have a whip and I can’t return for it - there is no move. Do I have to start the whole game over or is there a way to get out?
