Explain to me please, is this game for a while chtol? what is the Extinction Counter and why is it slowly decreasing and what will happen when it drops to 0%???

This is something like a countdown to the recovery of enemies. It replenishes if you sleep. Why bring to zero except for the quest, I don’t know
