Debuffs

Four days ago, being in Elysium, I found two debuffs on the spell; for bleeding and physical defense. Where did the Great Secret come from. Yesterday I patched the game with the latest patch, went in and saw that there were already eight debuffs. how to remove and avoid them? Thanks.
