How to shoot from behind a shield?

Actually the question is in the title. Enemies with a shield in their hands shoot, how should the player do it?

No way. The shield is a weapon. Only by changing one weapon to an additional one, you can shoot. Then again change and close with a shield. But there is a throwing knife. Opened up and quit. Look and see :)
