How to defeat a Corsair

I fight with a corsair in the groaning hills, and when I take off ~15% of his lives, he simply teleports to no one knows where, and he is not on any map after that.
Even when he is alone and in an endless freeze, he still breaks into stars. How to kill him? Thank the gods that I survived before the fight with him
