How to upgrade armor (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt)

In the tooltips when loading, they constantly write to me that the armor can be improved. But I haven't been able to find a way to do this.

You need to find a blueprint and upgrade it at the blacksmith. for example, first comes "Armor of the Griffin School", then "Improved Armor of the Griffin School", which requires ordinary armor and some other ingredients to create. Next comes the workshop (for example), requiring improved armor, and ingredients. With swords the same mess.
