When you consider the chronology, and doesn't mind spin-offs, the order is this:

Resident Evil Zero
Resident Evil
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
Resident Evil Code: Veronica
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil 6
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

But there is no sense something to place in order. Only true nerds can see there is some universe, for ordinary players it's just a simple story about zombies.
Take first the last 2 and 7, to not from the graphics sick.
In the remakes of 1 and 0 I dunno whether you can play or not, it's all basically old-school quests.
6, 5, 4, revelations 1, 2 at the end you can play if from grafon do not vomit.
