Throw (melee) (Red Dead Redemption 2)

Guys please tell me how to make a shot that is to knock down the enemy on the ground? not with a run,namely in the rack. I like that accident happened a couple of times,the character grabbed the enemy by the throat (or neck) and with the scope laid down on the ground, looming over him.did not understand how to do it?
Tried to grab the enemy on the button E and press R but it only pushes the enemy away.
