Impressions from the full game (The Beast Inside)
The topic of impressions of the game. Was not so long ago. Well.
Psychological-detective horror game from Illusion Ray Studio.
Events happen Inside The Beast in 1979, at the height of the Cold war. The protagonist of the game, a cryptanalyst and CIA Adam Stevenson, moved with his wife Emma at a country house he inherited. Away from prying eyes, he plans to decipher the military code Tips. Looking around the house, Adam accidentally discovers pages from the diary of a Nicholas Hyde, a man who lived in this very house in the eighteenth century. Secrets of the past are pulled out and a new place of residence does not seem so safe.
The gameplay is divided into two parts. In the afternoon, in the person of Adam, the player explores the house and grounds in the spirit of a Firewatch, and at night we were transferred to the XVIII century in the shoes of Nicholas Hyde, where events develop in a more familiar "horrornet" style. Such contrasting striping is the project benefit. The player manages not only to take a breath after the intense "nightmare", but also to see what remained from those or other locations in 1979. In this day of missing your suspense mixed with the spy theme.
Overall, despite the budget nature of the project (and sometimes not the best optimization), The Beast Inside came out definitely a good horror. Yes, the main plot twist can be guessed pretty easy, and some "daily" episodes seem to be artificially prolonged, but the game still catches its atmosphere and events. It also interesting puzzles, good music and memorable horror moments.
7/10
From the first pass did not appreciate, did not like stealing other people's ideas from a bunch of games, starting from firewatch, ending with a foam, but at the second passage the game liked and even enjoyed. The game is quite strong middling at the level of amnesia.
