So for sure the problem lies in the drivers, once this reaction goes. Try to roll back the driver to an earlier, e.g. in August or July.
I have very similar happened recently, when a dozen sat. Flew driver in all demanding games, during cutscenes or after a game, when the map was loaded. Saved only roll back drivers to the very first release for the 10s (June 2015), or lowering clock speed. Now back to the eight, and these treatments are no longer required. Not at all stable until a dozen.
