A new game from Kan Gao, Creator of To the Moon, which was released at the end of 2017. The game continues the story of Eva and Neil, the employees of the Corporation "Sigmund", dedicated to the correction memories in order to fulfill the cherished desires of its customers. One of these clients was Colin Ritz, whose childhood we've seen in the prequel A Bird Story (2014).
Finding Paradise is a story about regrets, about dreams and about the value of what you have. Although the story is not so sentimentally touching and expressive as in To the Moon, he nonetheless came out no less exciting and pretty life-affirming.
But overall the game is almost unchanged, except for a few mini-references to other genres (one of which, a parody of the jRPG). In front of us all the same isometric story-oriented indie-"adventure" on the engine, RPG Maker. We are still going through the location, collecting fragments of memory and jump from one memory to another (this time, however, we are going straight from the later recollections of childhood and Vice versa, i.e. in a spiral, leading to a certain "important event in the middle").
Of the main disadvantages, in fact, still awkward control. Well, if in 2011, To the Moon had no competitors in the category "best emotional experiences of the year" in 2017 was excellent What Remains of Edith Finch. And in General since the release of To the Moon left a lot of good games with a focus on drama and emotions. Besides the main plot "surprise" in Finding Paradise to crack pretty quickly, but that does not negate its importance.
The result: not so brilliant as To the Moon, but strong and of a good indie story-game in the finals where you will definitely drop a tear or two.
8.5/10
Remembering the experience of last game, and three mini-episodes, pre-allocated a whole day and a lot of napkins to cry.
Well, what? Congratulations, we have again a fine mixture of excellent humor, music and drama! It turned out no less twisted and difficult than the first time. Although it seems LIKE it can be repeated? Such strong emotions, great atmosphere, incredibly loved by a couple of heroes (and now, apparently, the C grade)? However, it is possible.
Do not deny yourself the pleasure to re-take past games including mini-episodes (especially the one about the boy and the bird).
Masterpiece/10.
