Gear companions (The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim)

The companions you can replace the gear and weapons and took them to the party, but after the left behind with them, they wear old gear. If they take old weapons and give more, they will use it even after leave of the hero. Is it possible to make leaving hero they remained equipped with not only weapons, but armor?
