BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION is also isometric adventure game, but if STASIS was a game chamber, a developing purely on a space station is for the new game developers have come up with a complete and original setting. Welcome to the future, in a post-apocalyptic Africa! Actually, it is the game world along with its inhabitants and is the main advantage of BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION.
The gameplay itself is built around the study locations, dialogues with the NPC and use the found objects (thank God pixel-hunting which was blamed STASIS, gone!). In addition, there is a tactical turn-based battles in the arena (optional for finishing the story) – in General, adding diversity to the project. The developers, by the way, is clearly inspired by Fallout 1-2, it is evident in the nuances of the interface and certain other aspects of the game design.
In the game, our GG will be faced with a rather unusual and bizarre inhabitants of the world of BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION. For example, fleemy – worms-parasites, subordinating and controlling the mind and body of people-carriers. Or scusami, former researchers, on whose bodies there is only the brain that is connected to the flying robot drone. And with others. In the story the player will have to choose which side to support.
In BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION pretty nice isometric picture and in General the developers technically confidently stepped forward.
Unfortunately, the positive moments at this end. One of the main disadvantages of the game is definitely laced running from location to location. Sometimes comes to the absurd: here we brought the grass of a local tribe to "communicate with the spirits of the ancestors." What do you think is next? We almost immediately sent for a new portion of grass! Back to the location from which we just arrived (as a player ship "Buffalo", allows you to move between areas). At the same time, the situation is aggravated by the low interactivity of the game world, and the research locations are usually "rewards" the player was lying or the story subject, or a gold figurine on sale (for the money you can buy upgrades for "Buffalo" – the opening of access to certain locations), but at best one or two NPCs with whom you can talk. All this brings to the gameplay boring, devaluing the quality of the work of artists.
In addition, the main story, despite the twist at the end turned mediocre: basically we just need to go back home, back in time. To do this, collect three items. After a bleak and harsh story of the protagonist of STASIS – a definite bounce back!
What is the result? Cute isometric, unusual setting and its inhabitants – on the one hand, "tight" backtracking, low interactivity and "like" the story on the other. Whether to pass the game? You decide.
