Quake II for NVIDIA RTX (Quake 2)

Download so-called the demo at the link below
https://www.techpowerup.com/download/quake-ii-for-nvidia-rtx/
Same with the full version when you install you can specify the folder with the original game. Then as I understand you will not get the demo and full version. Yes forgot to write earlier that you can make screenshots by pressing F12 in-game. They will be stored in the folder screenshots folder baseq2. For the Addons folder the save remains the same screenshots, but kept it in a folder with content addon. For example, darksiders II is the xatrix folder.
And here is what I got on the i7-2600 GTX at 1080 on windows 7 x64. A resolution of 1680x1050. Vulkan API
Settings Low global lighting

18-20 frames. Reducing the advanced settings I think you can get more frames while maintaining RTX.
Settings High global illumination

To play of course not possible for 10-12 frames. But the picture is a sight for sore eyes especially considering this is Pascal and RTX in emulation mode on it.
Yes, by the way, in both cases, the map was kneeling loading was 100 percent. What's funny card while consuming only 70 percent of 180 Watts, which was limited. Download of the CPU but it did not exist.
Well what can we say the debut of the technology took place quite successfully. He recalled the debut fiziksa have green. Also the first generation too was on his knees with his inclusion. Then processors have become faster and physics are found and on the CPU. Although the advanced physics, which is a rarity in the game and yet on the GPU. Will be interesting to see your results for this the demo or full version and to listen to the opinion.

In connection with the release of the new version 1.4, a small update.
You can download 1.4 on the pages below
https://www.techpowerup.com/download/quake-ii-for-nvidia-rtx/
or
https://www.nvidia.com/en-ru/geforce/campaigns/quake-II -rtx /

The main innovation of the game is the inclusion of Nvidia's support for launching the game with rays on third-party cards. Also, this support is now provided for their cards, which previously did not have such support even through emulation mode. Let me remind you that this mode was available for almost all cards of the Pascal generation.
Beam support for third-party cards is being provided thanks to the release of the final version of KHR Vulcan. Therefore, Nvidia cardholders now have the opportunity to choose from two APIs. Either native Nvidia or KHR Vulcan. You can switch between these APIs in the appropriate section.

In version 1.4 there were really drastic changes due to which when starting the game on Nvidia cards, if you have a driver version lower than 460.82. The game will fall out with an error prompting you to either update the version to 460.82 and higher. Or launch the game with a specific key to enable the legacy ray tracing implementation.
And since this all affected the quality and speed on the example of the i7-2600 and GTX1080 and all the stock. And so let's start with the maximum setting of the rays. Setting the task not to fall below 50 percent resolution from 1680x1050.
API: Nvidia

API: KHR Vulcan

As you can see 37 frames on both APIs. The quality looks the same. Now let's look at the middle ray settings.
API: Nvidia

API: KHR Vulcan

With medium beam settings, as you can see, the difference is one frame in favor of the Nvidia API. Accordingly, 46-47 frames. The implementation quality of both APIs is practically the same. Well, in conclusion, low beam settings, and here, unfortunately, I had to reduce the dynamic resolution by a percentage to 49.
API: Nvidia

API: KHR Vulcan

With low quality settings, finally, the psychological barrier of 60 frames is reached on both APIs. What can be said about version 1.4 in general. The company Nvidia made the game with rays available to almost all video cards, and not just for cards on their video chips. Plus, we see a new level of ray technology grinding, that 60 frames in emulation mode have become available even in Pascal.

And so the instruction.
1.Download the file with Quake 2 RTX from the links that you can find in this topic. The current version is 1.4 and the file must be named q2rtx-1.4.0-windows.exe
2. Run the downloaded file.
3. We see the next window. Click "Next>" to continue or "Cancel" to cancel.

4. Select the path for installation, if necessary, different from the one offered by default in my case, it is "C: Games Quake2RTX". You can manually set it in the appropriate column. Or by clicking "Browse ..." select a different path through the explorer. After choosing the desired path, click "Next>".

5-1. The Demo version is selected by default, because the item "Quake II Shareware Demo" is selected in the list of components. If you are satisfied, click "Next>". And go to step 7.

5-2. If you have a full game, select "Quake II Full Game" from the list of components. After that, the item opposite "Quake II Shareware Demo" will be removed. Click "Next>". And go to step 6.

6. Set manually in the appropriate column the path to the folder with the full version of Quake II. Or click "Browse ..." and select the path through the explorer to this folder. After setting the path, click "Install".

7. You will see the installation process in the window, both demo and full versions, depending on the option you selected above. The window is standard. When finished, the "Close" button will become active, and click it. Or if you need to see the installation logs, then click "Show details".

8. On the desktop in both cases, a shortcut "Quake II RTX" should appear. It also serves to launch. Or go through the explorer to the folder you chose for installation and run "q2rtx.exe"

The demo game has been updated to version 1.4.1. Many fixes, including for more stable operation of the software on video cards with a video chip from AMD. There are also fixes related to more stable work of the new KHR API. The one that allows cards from other manufacturers to receive ray tracing in this game. And also to the cards of Nvidia itself, where there was no emulation, no hardware support for rays.

Hello kittens. There was a problem that was raised above, but I still did not understand the solution. There is Quake 2 with Reckoning, GZ, Juggernaut and Zaero add-ons. And when rolling over RTX in addons, new assets are not loaded (weapons, enemies, items, ELEVATORS and not everything is set in motion). What needs to be done to display EVERYTHING? I'm not interested in rays on new assets. If necessary, I will clarify what version Q2 is (something build 2017 is written in the console). I'm trying with the latest version of RTX 1.6. those. I load add-ons through a batch file + game matrix or Zaero and the levels themselves are loaded (not even through the console) and scripts for explosions or earthquakes, but assets are not.
