I read about your problem - went into starbound.I immediately decided that I was lucky and the bug escaped me.But then I found another bug: I killed the last storyline boss, the Destroyer and the idea was to get access to the key Store that can be traded from a mysterious merchant,similar to the one that sells pirate licenses for upgrade ship.But in single player it still says I'm not ready yet.I found a way around this bug - You need to go to any server and engage in a dialogue with the dealer is available.
PS I Hope that the bugs described in this thread only after the last update(1.2.3 b).^_^
