The most banal example: you passed the game, got excited and really want something in outer space. Come to the forum, and you suggest movies that are similar to the game atmosphere and setting. You watch it and enjoy (thanks to the General feeling and impressions left over from the passing game).
The scheme is working and does not just apply to Mass Effect.
