Which is better: stick or d-pad? (Hollow Knight)

Want to Hollow knight. But can not decide which is better d-pad or stick. That is generally in the platform usually like better cross, but I watched gameplay of Hollow knight and got the impression that the spider will be very hard. Still want to ask experts, what is the best?
