Only M2 drive?
I want to assemble an entirely new system, hard drives don't use for many years, only SSD, but here's the problem, they need a place in the housing, and a power cable. And since the thesis of my new PC - low power consumption but high performance, I had something to review.
And then I thought, what if we completely abandon conventional SSDS on SATA, in favor of the M2, which connects directly to the Mat. Board, but how to operate the system with this drive, will there be problems?

More a matter of the expediency of this decision anyway, but today M2 drive is a luxury, and the difference in energy consumption compared with the difference in price is so minuscule that the whole computer will have to die 10 times before you will be able to recoup at least a tenth of the cost of the drive saved at the expense of a kilowatt of electricity.

If there is a grandmother (and a lot of attendants - 1TB M2 even the Germans is in the region of 500 euros) - take it, don't think - quite substantial increase in speed of read-write, the longer they live, like.

well, I already have a SATA SSD, maybe it will stick, but for those who collect for a new PC and it will be interesting to see how will the system behave with only one M2 drive))
One of the advantages of this solution:
1) there are No cables, just put in the mother like a CMOS battery and all
2) 2 times lower power consumption
3) Faster response

if you don't have any problems with the recognition of the device and installation wood, it will behave the same as regular W/d or SSD, the only difference in speed and noise level (compared to rail).

This is to put at least -2-3 RMA., M2 many slots on the motherboard?

I have is a M. 2 PCIE SSDS (key M). SSD and sata for the game. No problem. Only had problems installing Windows because of the fucking UEFI.
There is another thing: the interface has a maximum of 32Gb\s. And M. 2 drives now from the power of the 3Gb\s be given. (My 2.5 Gb\s-indications HD Tune)
But it's still very good. quickly. Windows not loaded, and just turns on for a couple seconds after the app. control.
From here a conclusion: until a really fast M. 2, there is no need to fork out for expensive drive large volume.
PS drive: SSD 128GB, M. 2, PCIe 3.0, ADATA XPG SX8000, ASX8000NP-128GM-C (5200р)

Well, from a normal HDD while I was still refused. Store all garbage. And the swap file on it, on the ssd-then his set is not recommended.
