Can't get into painted world (Dark Souls 3)

Was playing on NG+3 but was not DLS ashes of Arandela (decided to leave). Today was almost the last DLS, one boss left. After the assassination of the Gael (the boss) I got the paint for the picture that you want to give the artist in the painted world, but to get there I need a Gael, WHOM I KILLED. It turns out that I separol?

No. I read that the first DLC can be accessed in the same Church, but not through the Gael, and through the piece of the picture, which is somewhere in there.
