Question on NAS

There are fundamental differences in the hardware of the NAS from a PC?
I mean, design, ports, etc.
For example Intel Atom + Motherboard + RAM can perform all the functions of a NAS?

Yes. That's just raid0,1,5,10,50, you don't build.

Why MP GIGABYTE GA-D425TUD you cannot build a RAID 0, RAID 1?
In the specification it is specified:
Four SATA II (two support RAID 0, RAID 1 and JBOD)

Yes, you can, and Raid can be organized. Nas is largely designed not for system administrators who are ready to fool with configurations, and end-users, who most importantly, to make it easier. Stuck, the prescribed works. The closest to this model of Synology, Qnap and Buffalo, perhaps. And to build my own NAS is quite possible - the net is full of instructions on how to do it.

Good day!
Tell me,please, what NAS to choose?
Number locally. machines 15 - max 20
3 printers (one plotter)
Storage and processing of mainly graphic and 3D file (autocad, archicad, revit, etc.)
Need to support simultaneous rendering of multiple local machines in the network.
