The game is using different clients (Grand Theft Auto 5)

All kind time of day. Perhaps this question repeatedly in the forum, but the answer to my question, I did not found. Will I be able to play with a friend who bought and activated the game in Steam if I have the activation took place in RGSC and the game is using Rockstar? Thank you.
