Trying to play with a friend. (Enter the Gungeon)

So I connected the controller (Defender Game Master Wireless) and run the game. Chose Persian approached the cultist (the chap in purple). Included in the joint mode. Each geopede may only run, all other buttons do not work. Help plz.
