Ukrainian Studio Vostok Games was founded in March 2012. They don't just release games in an established genre canons and create projects that extend the boundaries of human experience and raises serious questions about the trends of development of modern civilization and human society. First this game is meant to become a multiplayer action game Survarium. That is the project we interviewed one of the key people of the Studio — Oleg Yavorsky.

3DNews: Good afternoon. Introduce yourself, please. Tell us a little about yourself to our readers. What position in the company, Vostok Games you take?

Oleg Yavorsky: Greetings! My name is Oleg Yavorsky, I am the head of marketing and PR Department in the company, Vostok Games, will be familiar with!

3DNews: Tell us about the game storyline Survarium. In what year and where the action unfolds game?

Oleg Yavorsky: the background Story of the game begins in 2016. Humanity is reeling from internal contradictions and problems — overpopulation, ecological, energy and economic crises. Greed and madness of corporations, devaluation, loss of landmarks, disappointment in yourself and life become the norm in society. Environmental disasters lead to terrible consequences. Whole ecosystems are dying, and in their place come the swarms of rats and vermin. The weeds clog the fields and the roads are overgrown so that you have to cut through a path. The government and military are trying to burn the so-called Forest, but this is just getting worse. Mold, fungi and plants modified nearly instantaneously capture vast territory. Large cities are cut off to the Forest, and the loss of power lead to mass outages. In the cities begins hunger and anarchy.

Big biotech organization produces the virus, designed to stop the spread of the Forest. The tests are successful and the virus is sprayed over huge areas. A sigh of relief — looks like problem solved... Spring clouds of anomalous pollen cover the cities, causing an epidemic of an unknown disease, from which man rots away in just a day. During the year dies nine-tenths of all mankind.

The player enters Survarium when the calendar year 2026. The city is ruined, they gradually captures the Forest. A handful of survivors try to find safe places. The player is one of them. Countries and borders are no more. In a world of anarchy. Now every man for himself.

3DNews: What kind of heroes will be able to control the player in Survarium? This will completely generate a character or you can choose a hero from the list of characters?

Oleg Yavorsky: We are planning the possibility of playing a character-male or female, as desired. Initially, the game will have a choice from several pre-generated our character models. In the future it is planned to introduce a fully-fledged editor that the player can shape the image of a hero yourself.

3DNews: According to the game's plot, an ecological catastrophe is sweeping the world and the events will develop in Europe, America and Asia. Tell me, what places to visit players?

Oleg Yavorsky: At the moment we focus on the post-Soviet space. It is close to us, and we feel it. It is customary, from the times S. T. A. LK. E. R. locations in the Chernobyl exclusion zone, and typical for the Soviet Union (the good, the widespread and familiar to all from childhood) architecture of industrial complexes, cities, villages, schools and so on. In the future, the venue of the game will expand to the European territories, Asia and America. The concept of Survarium scale, it allows us to model events globally, especially since the ecological problem today is very serious all over the world.

3DNews: Tell us about the basic gameplay elements. What is the game? What will engage the users in Survarium?

Oleg Yavorsky: Survarium is a free2play MMOFPS. As in any shooter, the main task of the player to try to survive at the expense of the ability to shoot, use the advantages of weapons and equipment, application of tactical skills and team play. The project includes a lot of distinctive features, including unique monsters, anomalies, artifacts, caches of sensitive information, as well as a powerful component of the story. Depending on the mode selected, the user tasks will vary. Examples of typical tasks: to find a certain number of artifacts for a limited time, to find and bring an important piece to the base, survive for a certain period of time to find the secret information hidden on the map, and so on. Options of tasks for the player planned a lot.

3DNews: How much the game will have endings?

Oleg Yavorsky: the format of the game does not suggest a quick ending, on the contrary — we plan long-term development by regularly adding new storylines, plot intrigue, new jobs and opportunities for players. By the way, we expect that users will be able to influence the course of events in the game, depending on their preferences.

3DNews: How much do you plan to introduce the game modes and what are they?

Oleg Yavorsky: so far planned three modes: PVP (team fight), PVE (missions for co-op) and the free play mode, where everyone plays for himself. Each mode has its own characteristics and differs significantly from the others, since the size of the game maps, and finishing with the dynamics of combat and quests for players. 3DNews: the game will be introduced the mode of cooperative transmission to the storyline. What tasks are to be accomplished by players?

Oleg Yavorsky: the Passage of jobs in a cooperative mode, aimed at revealing the details of the story component of the game. As you complete quests players will discover all new items in world history. Missions vary from search of artifacts, the study of anomalies to the defense of the escort, and the like.

3DNews: Tell us more about the combat system of the game. What types of weapons you plan to include in Survarium?

Oleg Yavorsky: For games developed complex combat system, with an emphasis on realistic model. This applies both to the ballistics of the bullet and the physical model of the character (ragdoll), properties of materials, and the like. The player will have the ability to use primary and secondary weapons, as well as elements of martial arts. Oleg Yavorsky: the Main and most formidable enemy in the game will be live opponents — the other players. Playing against other people is always more interesting than against AI.
