Problems with resolution in games

Recently purchased MSI GTX 1070, but I had a problem. The fact that I have a monitor with 1280x1024 resolution VGA, the graphics card of course such a connector and I bought a adapter. Like on the desktop everything is normal, but in games the problem with the resolution. I have exhibited a native resolution of 1280 1024, but the feeling that it is like something loaned, plus I have more screen resolutions, including full hd and the games are going to Freesat.
