Game mechanics and the open world (Horizon: Zero Dawn)

I'm one of those people who at first 100 hours clean up the open world and performs a laters and only then pass the plot without distraction.
Actually the question - at what stage you open all the basic game mechanics to put the plot on pause and engage in a dart?
