Previously, screamers were used in many games. The plot was not particularly worked on and the design of the locations was at a very amateur level. To create intimidation, banal methods were used - the walls were coated with bloody textures and whisperers were added against the sound background. Looking at old horror films, one can observe a serious increase in quality in games of this genre. A good example of horror with minimal screamers is SOMA.
