UT2004 + windows 10 x64 (Unreal Tournament 2004)
Maybe someone will come in handy, or maybe someone will tell you how to make friends with the subject. And so, UT2004 problems:
1. UT2004 starts only in a window (does not start).
2. The sound is terrible.
3. The image is twitching
4. There is a problem with textures (loading with a delay of ~ 0.5-1 sec.)
5. No smoothness of the mouse.
Maybe what problems only on my computer, I don't know.
Solutions are found:
1. runs only the OpenGL:
; RenderDevice = D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice
; RenderDevice = D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice
; RenderDevice = Engine.NullRenderDevice
RenderDevice = OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
; RenderDevice = PixoDrv.PixoRenderDevice
or disconnecting ReduceMouseLag
[D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice]
ReduceMouseLag = False
2. Not found. (although if you are a spectator, then everything is ok with the sound).
3. Didn't find it, but maybe it's my 27 "16: 9 monitor and resolution (UT accepts only 1280 * 720 or 1980 * 1020 from 16: 9).
4. Didn't find it. The worst problem, because when someone is on you vyprigivaet or shoots can see at once, so is shooting, shoot guns need to be proactive, to believe-ups also can be seen at once..
5. decision - set UT2004 x64 patch Did a long time, but the mouse becomes smooth.!
http: // unrealoldfriends.activeboard.com/t37241852/ut2004-patch-3369-for-64-bit-windows-vista-7/
after installation there will be a new exe-ka ut2004-win64.exe and inka - ut2004-win64.ini.
If someone plays and observes (and especially!) Does not observe such problems, unsubscribe.
In short, discussion is welcome.
If you put 10, it means you deserve it, suffer, everything is correct.
The resolution can be set via the console: setres 1280x720x32. And mb you have what kind of vertical sync enabled?
Yes, somehow it works faster than Win7 on the hardware standards, and at times.
vsync off I'll try with him.
===========
With him the mouse swims like in jelly.
1. If the error is D3DERR_DEVICELOST, then go to the fax http://web.archive.org/web/20121119225007/http://www.prounreal.dp.ua/modules/xoopsfaq/index.php?cat_id=1#q107, fixes it like step7.
Then I had a problem - the skins were rendered somehow blurry, so I put an x64 patch. As you have painted. At the same time, the sounds in the ut are slightly changed, all sorts of turrets and a tank in the sassolt, well, the dd is transparent.
Well, the default created rules. Refreshrate (fps) was set to 90, there is still something else.
user666, I do not observe any of the problems listed above. Unreal Tournament 2004 Ludicrous Edition build. But there is another. After switching to win 10, 3 sliders (brightness, gamma, contrast) stopped working for me. The image is not regulated in any way, but the sliders go. I tried to reinstall the drivers, the game and run the game in compatibility mode with win 8 and win xp - it didn't help!
Registered in ini RenderDevice = OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice, everything started working, only now full shadows are not available in the settings, does anyone know where to tweak the game to set the shadows to max.?
miumiu
and adjustment plows in both DX and opengl mode.
About shadows - does OpenGL handle them in UT at all?
PS: the question concerned mostly the game on the Internet (fps ~ 90), because with a local game where I have over 700 fps, everything is fine, even without the x64 patch.
miumiu
and your monitor is what and what resolution, because I sin that 27 '' is a lot for it, because in truth, judging by the bourgeois sites, many after switching to OpenGL did not complain about anything.
user666
It's strange that everything works for you. I have an nvidia card, can you have Amd? Firewood also plays a role.
user666
Monitor 21 "1600x1200
There were also similar problems, at first I turned on the opengl, there were glitches, then I commented this line back to D3D and put
ReduceMouseLag = False in all possible blocks, everything was ok.
And so, after playing a little with the 64bit patch, the lack of texture smoothing is noticeable (for some reason), the walls are drawn very unevenly, already in the eyes of the guys. But the mauslag works. In duels it is quite playable, but when 10 * 10 - not very much. (I think the problem is in the big monitor).
(This applies to playing on an Internet ~ 85 fps. At high fps everything is fine).
The mouse is quite customizable.
Well, in general, to summarize - it's better to just switch to OpenGL. Even if it gives a lower FPS (offline), a slightly unusual (you can get used to) mouse, but everything is smoother.
I also switched to windows 10 x64 - the problems described above with UT2004 were not observed. But two troubles jumped out.
The game gives an error when trying to take a screenshot almost every time:
And the second, the most annoying for me is the incompatibility of NVIDIA ShadowPlay with the game. The video is not written in UT2004. If you can tell me how to solve these problems, I will be grateful.
You play on DX8, there are all kinds of problems with it. If you look in the internet, many old games (under DX8) do not normally run on Win10 (Something MC has done with DX8 support in the top ten).
A similar window pops up with mouselag enabled in full screen mode. Now I tried it, I have no mistakes, screenshots are being made. Try to update the drivers, you have old ones, maybe. will help.
I have never used nv shadow, fraps captures without problems.
I also think the problems depend on the version of Win10. I have a Corporate 1511, but many complained when they received an update to 1511.
My advice in the above post is to switch to OpenGL. (I checked the screenshots, they work).
By the way, you can also try to update the DX.

If the link is tossed to "Update your Win to 10", which is already infuriating, although I have 10, then in Yandex forget the
"DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer"
user666
I have Windows 10 Home v.1511 - the flight is normal and there are no problems with UT2004, except for these two, which, in principle, do not affect the gameplay.
Mouselag is disabled in all UT2004.ini sections.
How to activate OpenGL in the game? In the Render Device settings, only Direct 3D and Software to choose from.
When trying to update DirectX, it is reported that everything is fine with this.
The last thing left is to update the video driver, and I did that too. Did not help.
With video capture by Fraps and similar programs, the computer starts to slow down. I think the problem is in the hard drive, which hardly has time to store such a full HD stream in real time. NVIDIA ShadowPlay is different! With him, the nerd life is transformed :) The video is recorded and saved to a file without creating lags in the game. And this is at full HD and 60 frames per second. There is also a handy feature that you can save the last few minutes of gameplay to a video file with the click of a button. And how many minutes to save is set in the settings in advance (up to 20 minutes, just a standard skating rink in UT2004). I made a beautiful frag or just caught a funny moment - I pressed the button and a ready-made video file is waiting on the hard drive)
UPD .: In UT2004.ini I assigned OpenGL as a renderer for UT2004 - screenshots work. Thanks for the help, it remains to figure out with ShadowPlay.
UPD. 2: Thanks to wise Pepper, UT2004 made friends with NVIDIA ShadowPlay! It was necessary to put Direct 3D 9 as a Render Device, but this render did not work in UT2004. The game crashed with the message: Can't find file for package 'D3D9Drv'
I had to install the UT2004-win64-3369 patch, thus a 64-bit version of UT2004 became available. And when I launched it, I discovered that Direct 3D 9 was finally working and, accordingly, NVIDIA ShadowPlay made friends!
This patch itself is 3 additional files for the game, which are placed in the "system" folder in the game directory. One of these files (ut2004-win64.exe) starts, as you might guess, the 64-bit version of UT2004, after which a config (ut2004-win64.ini) is created for this executable. Create a second copy of our main config (UT2004.ini), rename it to ut2004-win64.ini and replace the default file with it. Done. You can download this patch here.
About OpenGL and 64bit patch has already been written above :) Fraps yes, writes without compression.
PS: I did not succeed by throwing UT2004.ini into ut2004-win64.ini. The game did not start. Looks like I added / changed something there. I set up ut2004-win64.ini from scratch.
PPS: Does NVIDIA ShadowPlay OpenGL capture what ??
And NVIDIA ShadowPlay OpenGL does not capture or what ??
Nah, only Direct 3D 9 came up. However, the drawback of the 64-bit version of UT2004 got out - all hits sounds became the same volume, i.e. from the sound you will not guess now how hard you hit the enemy. What a headshot, what a hit from a minigun - one hell.
