Self-propelled wheel restoration (Mafia 2)
Hello everyone.Not so long ago, it became possible to export new wheels to Mafia 2. In connection with the ability to replace old wheels with new ones. It was decided to add, or rather restore the lost wheels from self-propelled guns.
Thus, I easily transferred the wheels from the self-propelled vehicle from cars_universal2 to the main file with wheels. And the result was not long in coming, the self-propelled gun started working, with original wheels.
But again we do not cease to admire the developers of mafia 2, how much they did not want the modders to restore everything.
Wheels and characters have protection from new texture materials. They can be inserted into the model, but the game itself will not see them.
The result for self-propelled guns, showed that in fact, on the model of wheels from a self-propelled gun, textures are not from them, but from ordinary cars. And not that similar for the characters, although in fact everything is on their materials and textures.
Somewhere in the files there is a blocker.
Treatment.
This is fixable by reworking the textures and re-texturing each wheel.
Another blocker came to light. If the wheels of a self-propelled gun are covered with textures from a jeep, even taking into account the fact that this is native material, then even in this case the textures are still thrown over from ordinary cars.
This once again says that it is written somewhere in the game that the wheel model is Manstransport _....... and the texture for this wheel will be wheel_univers_d.dds, and not like Manstranswag_c.dds.
If you knock off the mapping of the wheels, the texture gets confused, which means the wheels in the early version were textured somewhere, and then only in the same textures the textures of the caps and other wheels were sketched. But the iron reference remained to this texture.
As for the characters, I would not mind throwing these guys here.
