Is the damage bar working properly? (Days Gone)

How accurate is the damage bar? Is it tied to the class of guns or is it possible to navigate directly by all weapons? I'm just embarrassed that the crossbow gets higher damage than snipers and shotguns. Is this really so? Or do shotguns have their own damage, which makes sense to compare only with shotguns and so on? (this is often used)

Blocked the mob with shots in the chest from a crossbow, then from a sniper rifle and count how many arrows and cartridges were needed. The answer will come by itself, provided that the Knocked Up perk is not taken, for additional damage from the crossbow.

The crossbow is the most damaging cannon from the start to the very Talon 7. And with the perk right up to the BFG itself.
