Advent Rising hasn't been checked out by magazines, and yet it's one of my favorite games.

Personally, I am terribly fond of Second Sight from Free Radical Design from the games that are little appreciated by journalists. Best storytelling in games, IMHO.
From the earlier - the then-seemingly "photorealism" in the graphics fell in love with Tekwar, which the press fiercely lowered (a shooter on a PC, that way from the 95th).
My favorite ever game is also Wing Commander 4: Price of Freedom. The press as a whole loved this series, but many consider the fourth part to be the worst for its "departure from the roots" (there is no fight against evil alien invaders, the most common civil war is going on) - although there is perhaps the most adult plot in all cosmos and Sci in general -Fi games (sorry, friends, but Kojima with MGS, compared to the simple, incidentally, WC4 plot, is similar to the humorist from "Laughing Ponorama" compared to Hemingway.
And I also flirted with Strife - an awesome shooter with very outdated graphics for its time, but an RPG development system and a relatively free world (what later appeared in Riddicks, Darkness and others like them). Also, for some unknown reason, I liked a toy called Deadline, an unpopular tactical game about the actions of special forces. Well, I really liked the Wages of War / Soldiers at War series, although the press for the most part considered it a pathetic clone of Jagged Alliance (and I loved it for some realism, perhaps, in contrast to the funny but frivolous JA).

Hogs of war is the best tactical component in my opinion, it is still interesting to play.

IMHO, the best arcade snowboarding game. Series "SSX" nervously smokes on the sidelines. So much drive! I just love this game! And the soundtrack is beyond praise! There you can find Cauterize, Seether and many other great bands!
All in all, a 100% underrated masterpiece: twisted:

There used to be a lot of these games. As a child, they played everything, not knowing the ratings, and found zest.
