Automatic game updates

Recently Steam has stopped updating games on its own.
There are several games installed on your computer. For example, you want to play some kind of library, and instead of playing it is worth updating. You go into the downloads and there may already be several games in the download list and Steam writes - the update is planned, for example, in a week. I don’t understand what happened?
Everything is set by default in the game settings - automatically update games. I did not change anything, as I put it by default, everything stood like that. Previously, everything was ok. You run Steam and if there are updates, they immediately began to swing.
