The shadow of the character is gone (Dark Souls 3)

While playing the game, I noticed that the shadow of my character disappeared after I received the Dark Mark from the Pilgrim, and other characters and enemies have shadows. If you go to another profile, where the Persian does not yet have a Dark Mark, then a shadow is cast there. Here's interesting: this happens for everyone like this, is it a game bug or can there be any information from the lore about the disappearance of the shadow after the curse?
