The problem with the folders.

Open command line (on behalf of the administrator, estessno) and write the following:

assoc .lnk=lnkfile

Well, after what's happened? Not on a level place. Other shortcuts work fine? Go to game folder and create a shortcut yourself.

If does not help, then run the registry editor (regedit) and open this thread:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft \Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.lnk

There should be two subfolders OpenWithList and OpenWithProgids. Look what's in them, and screenshots here.
