Parry. (Dark Souls 3)

Guys, tell me please, I don’t understand how to parry an attack with a shield.
I played on one repack, when the shield and weapon were active, when I pressed ctrl, the character parried the enemy's attack. Now, on another repack with an active shield and weapon, when pressing ctrl, the character uses a special weapon attack, and it doesn't matter if the shield is on or hidden.
I'm new to the DSA world, so don't be too harsh.
Thanks.

Shields are different, you need a parrying one. See description

Even so, I see. I just found a shield to absorb 100 physical. damage.
I somehow thought that shields a priori should parry attacks.
Thanks.

Look at the icon in the lower left corner of the shield: those with a circle - parry, those with a sword - no

There is a skill on the shield. If he is "Weapon Mastery" then an attack with a weapon will be carried out, if there "Parry" he will parry. But you need to parry exactly during the swing. It's booty tricky

and how does "Magic Parry" work? I have 2 shields, both 100% protection of physical damage and skills on them parry and magician parry

take and parry the spells flying at you - everything is simple)
it's like with arrows from large bows, only spells

um ... actually, before hitting the enemy, you need to squeeze, and not when only swinging. If this is not some kind of super fast combo attacks.

well, I figuratively said, there is under each attack in its own way

And here's another question. Not all attacks can be parried.
How to understand which attacks are parried and which are not?

By trial and error)
