Sound issue (Steam) (Amnesia: The Dark Descent)

I got this game for free (there was a promotion on Steam, where the developer handed it out) and I decided to play it just today. Sound is not heard at all, in the main menu, in the game itself .. I tried to reinstall, changed the settings, but the problem is exactly the same. Sound in other games works fine. What can you tell me to do?
