I have not played AC, but I can recommend: Witcher 1, Alan Wake, Mafia 1, Fahrenheit

This is no reason to ignore them.

PS And in the first Witcher, the plot seemed more interesting to me than in the third. The last part is generally closely related to the saga of Geralt, tk. it is in this game that there are a lot of book characters. Better to start with books in this case.
