MW2019 returned the series from the world of crazy porridge of ridiculous futuristic clichés to the good old modernity, where the biggest danger is nuclear weapons. Yes, the campaign offered almost no Hollywood moments and a political action movie, but everything was compensated by chic gunplay and almost modern graphics. It seemed that in the second part revelry would begin.
The rampage hasn't started. MW II is extremely afraid of being big and epic. Looking at the story as a whole, only disappointment arises - Captain Price and his afterburner team run after some worthless container missiles for half the game, the presentation of the danger of which the game fiercely fails at the very beginning. The other half of the game we are busy with caricature drug cartel which in fact plays a weak role in the plot. The whole action again looks extremely artificial and feigned. Villains are simply released here and there, PMC are bad guys again (after all, they kill for money, and we for an idea), no one guesses to tie the hands of the hostages. In MW2007, Price beat and killed Al-Assad, and here four adult military men stand and endure ridiculous teenage jokes from a villain whose scale of atrocities is no less. Everyone has zero motivation. Why does the CIA decide where to send, and where is the detachment of the British SAS? The Mexican military in the service equips himself with a weapons depot just in case. Mess. The campaign teases something interesting only at the end, but given the scale of the current MW, Makarov may just be a fool with a gun.
The gameplay is still the same juicy, it is very pleasant to shoot. There are Hollywood moments, but not many of them, the missions are quite diverse. Mini-games with an airplane and a tactical Ghost look unnecessary. And the episodes with "survival" are simply ridiculous - five minutes ago we cheerfully ran changing the fan of trunks and the enemies lay down with a couple of hits, and then suddenly weapons disappeared from everywhere, and 2-3 cartridges appeared in the stores of opponents. A slightly different presentation would be on topic. And so - in the cutscene, Soap has several grenades in his vest, and in the game he collects bombs on his knee from a mouse trap and domestos.
The graphics on the paste-gene lost a little, but not a little. Level MW2019 MW II no longer exports. She is not very shy about loading angular models in the distance and blurry textures with a strong mess near. But in the hurried Cold War and the ridiculous Vanguard on pastgen, things were worse. And in general, this is already the third cross-gen game of the series, in the previous generation, Black Ops III 2015 was the same, from which the campaign was cut out altogether.
MW II is worth a run, but it's hard not to be disappointed in the campaign. It's silly to remember the games of 15-11 years ago, but, God, how much cooler, wider and more epic it was than here.
