When the Mongols? (Medieval 2: Total War)

After the Mongols came reinforcement - AI did not come up with anything smarter than to throw them to the walls, where they began to shoot my archers. Then they ran out of arrows and I led part of the garrison out of the gate. The Mongols rushed at them, the battle boiled over... and then they were hit in the rear by the fresh forces of my second unit, which came to that time. The result - again the defeat of the Mongols.
The next reinforcements were not so much superior to my strength. They fought for a long time, threw even archers in hand-to-hand combat, but in the end the Mongols retreated completely bloodless. My two units were left with bloody stubble, but unlike the Mongols, I could recover.
Then I was just finishing up the remnants of the Mongolian horde, which broke into separate detachments - one at a time.
When the Timurids came, I already had 3 powerful detachments in the east. Waited. until the horde stretches on the march (another AI error - does not keep all the forces in one fist) and beat equal forces, and sometimes against 1.5-2 times superior enemy (good units on the map of the battle go not immediately). Definitely - later the army of Russia is able without any problems to break all there Timurids, the main thing is not to go to the mortal battle at once against the whole horde, and catch the stragglers.
Half of the Timurids reached Ryazan, but there simply repeated the same tactics, which the Mongols were in.
Conclusion - not as terrible a devil as it is small. Man, of course, possessing the forces of the Mongols and, especially, Timurids, would have calmly reached, and to La Mancha, and to Gibraltar. But AI blunts: stretches troops, climbs into suicide attacks, succumbs to provocations. As a result, hordes suffer catastrophic losses, which they can not make up. We, in the end, can even lose the city or two (return), forcing the horde to wash with blood under its walls.
In general, I have a suspicion that the Mongols and Timurids, by and large, are good at creating problems for the two strongest nations: Russia and Turkey, so that they do not develop and finish the game too quickly.
